How many of you flying with
Styluses have flipped into to reflex mode and realized that the plane
was NOT getting up on "step" because you still had camber
dialed in as well as reflex?
Reflex doesn't override camber
but merely subtracts from it. This is not a serious situation but I've
found that more than a couple of times that I had neglected to pull
the camber slider back when I flipped into reflex.
A few years back, I came
up with a little programming fix to help me avoid this. Simply, if I
have any camber when reflex is invoked, the rhythm timer produces a
tone sequence (dit dit dah) that is unique and doesn't sound like any
other tones or sequences that I've programmed or are inherent tones
heard from the Stylus. Further, no reflex will not be invoked UNTIL
camber is removed.
This little function will
use (2) stick switches and (1) rhythm counter. In the example below,
I will be using SS2, SS5, RHYTHM2.
First, we're going to use
the Boolean function in the switch menu (SW). Scroll to REFLEX and set
the switch to #19. Scroll to the right of #19 and hit the (+) key so
that the word "AND" appears, then move the cursor to the right
of "AND" and hit the (+) key until SS2 appears. This prevents
reflex from being invoked if any camber is dialed in.
Second, while in the switch
menu (SW), scroll to Rhythm2 and set the switch to #19>AND>SS5.
This enables the rhythm counter.
Third, move to the stick
switch menu (ST-SW). Select STICK-SW>2. Set the channel to CB. Move
the cursor that this it is flashing over the PNT. Move the camber slider
3-5 clicks (~5%), then hit the (+) key and the value to the far right
of the screen should now be just to the right of "PNT". Scroll
to the right so that the next screen appears and verify that the stick
status is ON when the camber slider is all the way toward you (no camber).
The display should read ON>H (ON). Further the status should go OFF
when you move the camber slider away from you a few clicks.
Fourth, while in the stick
switch menu hit the (+) key to get to SS5. Follow the steps above (step
#3) doing everything the same except when scrolling to the next screen
verify that the stick status is OFF when the camber slider is all the
way toward you (no camber). The display should read ON>L (OFF).
Fifth, scroll to the timer
menu (TIMER) scroll all the way to the right until RHYTHM appears. Hit
(+). When the rhythm screen appears, hit the (+) or (-) key to select
Rhythm2. Then move to the right of >2 and hit the (-) key until the
letter "A" appears. Set the display to read:
RHYTHM>2>A >0:00
> 1SEC >S2 > 1T
Move the cursor back to the
left of "A", then hit the (+) key so that "B" appears.
Set the display to read:
RHYTHM>2>B >0:01
> 1SEC >L1 > 1T
Rhythm 2A gives the two dits
and Rhythm 2B gives the dah. Test by invoking camber, then flip into
Reflex and you should hear the new warning.
